How to use it

  1. Enter the item price.
  2. Enter the shipping the buyer pays; use 0 for free shipping.
  3. Enter the sales tax charged on the order.
  4. Put 1 in the insertion field if an eBay listing fee applies.
  5. Run it to see both fee totals, both net proceeds, and the difference.

Worked example

Price 100, shipping 10, sales tax 8, and no insertion fee give Etsy fees of 11.14 and eBay fees of 16.45, with net proceeds of 98.86 and 93.55 — a 5.31 difference.

Why enter sales tax separately?
The two platforms treat tax differently in their fee bases. Etsy’s transaction fee excludes sales tax, while payment processing and eBay’s fee apply to the tax-inclusive total, so the tax amount changes the result.
Are ad fees and international fees included?
No. Advertising, cross-border transactions, currency conversion, store subscriptions, discounts, performance surcharges, and refunds are all excluded.
