What this tool does
Computes the volume of a rectangular tank from internal dimensions, in cubic metres and litres. One m³ is 1,000 L.
How to use it
- Enter the internal length in metres.
- Enter the internal width in metres.
- Enter the internal height in metres.
- Run it for volume and litres.
Worked example
3 m × 2 m × 1 m gives 6 m³, or 6,000 L.
Calculation method
Rectangular volume
length*width*heightLiters
length*width*height*1000Frequently asked questions
- Can I use external dimensions?
- That overstates the volume by the wall thickness. Use internal dimensions for what actually fits.
- Does it handle cylindrical tanks?
- No, rectangular only. For a cylinder, compute radius² × π × height separately.
What this tool does not cover
Rectangular internal dimensions only. Sloped floors, internal structures, freeboard, and thermal expansion are not reflected.
